The 亚洲天堂 Lake Airsoft Association is asking 亚洲天堂 Lake council for a letter of recommendation that would help them access funding. The volunteer association is a non-profit that organizes airsoft games in and around 亚洲天堂 Lake.

Michael Jacques is the Treasurer of the association. He said they will use the funds to improve safety at their game field off Highland Drive, which they established in 2018 with the help of 亚洲天堂 Lake Community Forest.

The playing field is where the 亚洲天堂 Lake Airsoft Association hosts most of its games. It is the central hub for airsoft activity in the region and helps generate revenue that goes back into the association.

鈥淭he project is focused on fixing up our road and making it more accessible for players, the public and emergency vehicles to access,鈥� Jacques said.

The group has not had any major incidents to date, but Jacques said it鈥檚 still important to have quick and easy access for emergency services.

Jacques said that the airsoft association will use the rest of the funding to upgrade their safety area where players prepare for matches and hold rules meetings.

Airsoft鈥檚 concept is like paintball, but the mechanics are different. Instead of firing projectiles filled with paint, airsoft players shoot each other with tiny, biodegradable BB鈥檚. Jacques said the main reason to switch over to airsoft is the cost.

鈥淵ou鈥檙e getting twice the ammo at significantly less than half the cost,鈥� Jacques said. He said the ammunition keeps longer and flies straighter.

Jacques said you need to be careful with airsoft guns and regulations because they are classified as unrestricted firearms and must be handled the way firearms are handled under the law.

He said it鈥檚 also important to wear the appropriate safety equipment, including the correct, impact-rated, protective eyewear, when playing airsoft. Masks that cover ears and mouths are recommended strongly, along with sleeves. Jacques says gloves are essential.

Jacques said you know it when you get hit, but BBs aren鈥檛 as painful as paintballs. He said they don鈥檛 leave bruises or draw blood as often. Scoring is done on an honour system since no one is wearing paint.

鈥淚t鈥檚 actually kinder than paintball.鈥� Jacques said.
