The Lakes District campus of the College of New Caledonia held daily events last week to celebrate Aboriginal history week. Events included an introduction to rights of passage by elders, history of Nedut鈥檈n people, drumming and a bannock mania contest. Stewart Phillip, Grand Chief of the Union of B.C. Indian Chiefs, was the keynote speaker of the event. He said he鈥檚 seen tremendous change over the past 40 years, but that there鈥檚 still plenty of challenges ahead for First Nations.
