Many students of Lakes District Secondary School and Willian Konkin Elementary wore pink shirts last Wednesday in support of pink shirt day - a day intended to raise awareness about the effects of bullying. Many local businesses were also supportive of the initiative. Eugene Patrick with Carrier Sekani Family Services' walk tall program visited several businesses in town to take a photo of employees holding a "stop bullying" poster. Pink shirt day began after two high-school students from Nova Scotia organized a protest to wear pink in sympathy with a grade-nine boy who had been bullied for wearing a pink shirt.
