(L-R) Local residents Brian MacDonald Jr., Ashton Waldo and Travis Waldo discovered two very large puff ball mushrooms growing in a field just outside Decker Lake recently. A giant puff ball can contain up to seven trillion spores, which are released into the air when the puff ball reaches maturity. Puff balls can grow to 15 inches in diameter and weigh more than four pounds. It is thought the recent rain contributed to the size of these puff balls.
