Hairs to fundraising

During the 2011 Relay for Life opening ceremony local resident Tammy Konkin announced that if she raised $1000 from that time until 7 p.m. she would shave her head.

During the 2011 Relay for Life opening ceremony local resident Tammy Konkin announced that if she raised $1000 from that time until 7 p.m. she would shave her head. At about 6:15 she was approximately $400 short. Relay walkers came forward, bringing the total up to $1045. Shortly after 7 p.m. Konkin said goodbye to her hair.  She was part of the T.N.T relay team and together with Tina Downie, they raised a total of $8,000.
