Linda Edgecombe presented her ideas on 'Your re-set for 2012' to about 40 women at the Royal Canadian Legion branch #50 in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake last week.  Edgecombe, a motivational speaker, was in town for the second event of Enbridge’s Women Building Communities initiative.

Edgecombe, currently living in Kelowna, B.C., mixed humour with insight and introspection inducing questions like, ‘Are you on the deferred life plan?’, and ‘When was the last time you did something for the first time?’  The question, ‘How old are your stories?’ struck a chord with many as they were encouraged to get out an make new stories if their stories were more than a year old.

The event raised $500 through a raffle and draw, which Enbridge matched with another $500.  The $1000 was received by Connie Anderson on behalf of the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Food Bank.

Michelle Perret, senior manager of community and municipal relations for Enbridge Northern Gateway Pipelines explained that the event was designed to encourage women’s networking.  Louise Grenier, a consultant with the Investors Group, thought that it was a great idea.  She was at the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake event in connection with her work in Smithers to develop a women’s network, something which, she said, Northwest B.C. could really use.
