Orange Shirt Day in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake

Morris Williams Elementary School joined Lakes District Secondary last Friday to celebrate Orange Shirt Day. This national initiative, which started in Williams Lake, brings awareness to Canada’s history of the residential school system and the inter-generational trauma impacting generations of Aboriginal people. Following local drummers, students and school staff marched around ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake holding signs that read ‘every child matter’ and ‘together we can heal.
