In 1910 William (Billy) Bickle rode horseback from Hazelton to the Southside and established a homestead in what is now the Tatalrose area. In 1912 he built a large log barn.

100 years later Billy鈥檚 son Ian came back to the Lakes District from his home in New Zealand and met up with Billy鈥檚 grandson Bruce Bickle of Langley to visit with friends in the area .

They went to see the old  homestead and were pleased to find that the barn is still standing with most of the roof still intact.
