Local resident Larry Ritchey snapped this photo of an Eastern Blue Jay at Tchesinkut Lake recently.
He said the unusual visitor is rarely seen on this side of the Rocky Mountains. Eastern Blue Jays are large crested songbirds with broad, rounded tails. They are smaller than crows, but larger than robins.
