About 120 students helped raise funds for clean drinking water on April 27 by walking to Radley Beach and filling jugs, buckets and other containers to the brim with water. The gesture was meant to simulate the daily struggle of walking several kilometres for fresh water. Each team of students was asked to raise at least $25 and to carry as much water as they could manage from a massive bladder 鈥 containing approximately 1,500 gallons of water 鈥 back to Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS). 鈥淭his is meant to give a greater appreciation for how lucky we are and to raise money for those in need,鈥 said organizer Patti Dube, career coordinator at LDSS. Participants raised $1,584 for WE Charity, Dube said. (David Gordon Koch photos)
