Open mic coffee house

The last ‘Open mic coffee house’ of the 2016/17 series will be held on Friday evening, May 5 at the Lakeside Multiplex.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the coffee house starts at 7 p.m. The coffee house provides an evening of live entertainment, featuring a number of local performers. This event has been growing steadily in musicians’ participation and in audience popularity, so think about checking it out.

Performers are admitted free; audience members pay $5. All profits go to the Lakes Animal Friendship Society. For more information, contact Jim Loeb at james_loeb@hotmail.com.

The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and District Community Foundation is kicking off its second decade with an evening of live entertainment, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 13 at the Francois Lake Hall.

The featured performers are Vancouver-based artists Bev Elliott and Chris Nowland. The evening will feature a wine and cheese social, and information about projects supported by the Community Foundation in its first decade.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for youth, and are available at Process 4 circle arts Gallery, Lakes District Printing and Stationery and the Lakes Artisan Centre, or from a Community Foundation board member. For more information phone Bernice Magee at 250-692-7081.

Artist call for entries… on now

The call for entries is out now, for an exhibition of paintings on the theme of ‘My Canada.’

The exhibition is organized by a group of Lakes District artists, and is supported by The Lakes District Arts Council. The show will open the day before Canada Day, Friday, June 30.
