The streets are alive with the sound of music as thousands of people prepare to celebrate the JUNO Awards in Vancouver this weekend.

While JUNO-themed events have been taking place all week, with even more to come, the main awards broadcast will take place at Rogers Arena on Sunday, March 30.

Included in this year's batch of nominees are 208 artists, with 67 of these individuals receiving their first-ever JUNO nominations. 

Dozens of these nominees will have the opportunity to celebrate the JUNO Awards in front of a home crowd as they represent their native province of B.C., including the host himself, Michael Buble.

One B.C. resident will even get to be a part of JUNO history. Vancouver's Karan Aujla is one of the nominees in the South Asian Music Recording of the Year category, which marks the first year that this award is being given out.

Leading the pack for the B.C. nominees is the Snotty Nose Rez Kids, who have three nominations, bringing their all-time total to six, with the Kitamaat group still looking for their first win.

Among the 46 award categories are several special achievement awards, including the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award, which is being given to Live Nation Canada chairman Riley O'Connor.

The other achievement award recipients include:

• Boi-1da (International Achievement Award)

• Sum 41 (Canadian Music Hall of Fame)

• Anne Murray (Lifetime Achievement Award)

In addition to handing out dozens of accolades, the 54th JUNO Awards will also include live performances from Canadian artists such as Aqyila, Josh Ross, Nemahsis, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Tia Wood, bbno$, Peach Pit, Roxane Bruneau, and many more.

Sum 41 will also play their last show as a band as they enter the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
