The Beacon Theatre was temporarily closed for a couple of days recently due to a coolant pump failure in the Christie 2210 projector.
According to Michael Riis-Christianson, member of the Lakes District Film Society who own and operate the community theatre, the problem is uncommon, but not unheard of.
Riis-Christianson said a replacement part was flown into Kamloops and was then brought to ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake by a representative of Maximum Project Management, the company that services the theatre's equipment.
"The failure resulted in us canceling showings of Brave on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We reopened Monday [July 9, 2012]," he said.
"The society had hoped to screen the movie Brave for another week, but unfortunately, Sony Pictures Releasing Inc., the company that is marketing The Amazing Spiderman, will not allow us to do this."
Riis-Christianson said he apologizes to the community for the inconvenience, and hopes that everyone enjoys the upcoming screenings of this summer’s blockbuster, The Amazing Spiderman.
