Lots to see and do at annual Fall Fair
The 74th annual Lakes District Fall Fair takes place at the Eagle Creek Fairgrounds, one kilometre south of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake, Friday to Sunday, Sept. 8-10, 2017.
This year’s fair will feature Friday night teen night, the agricultural and animal exhibits, the 4-H auction, the children’s festival, the music festival, helicopter rides, lawn mower races, stock dog competition, heavy horse pull, gymkhana, and much more.
In the exhibit hall, watch for arts and crafts demonstrations, information booths by non-profit organizations, as well as displays of award-winning baking, fruits and vegetables, photography, children’s arts and crafts and more.
Endako artist Clare Singleton will be walking the fair grounds on Saturday, sketching various fair activities. There will be a wide range of food vendors indoors and out, as well as cotton candy, popcorn, ice cream and pies.

Terry Fox run at the Francois Lake Hall
Another long-running and successful local event, the Terry Fox run, which raises funds for cancer research, takes place on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Francois Lake Hall.
Registration is at noon, and the run/walk/bike/paddle begins at 1 p.m. sharp. There will be live entertainment all afternoon long, and the popular silent auction featuring quality donated items, fresh baking and a fresh vegetable harvest auction.
Come and contribute to a good cause, and say hello to neighbours and friends.
Performing arts season tickets now on sale
Season tickets for the Lakes District Arts Council’s (LDAC) twelfth performing arts season are on sale now at Process 4 circle arts Gallery, the Lakes Artisan Centre, or Lakes District Printing and Stationery.
Season ticket holders receive a 50 per cent discount or more over individual ticket prices. Adult season ticket holders get in to LDAC performances for less than $10 per show. Senior prices are even more affordable - about $7 per show.
And LDAC has affordable family packages. Young people between the ages of six and 18 can attend shows with their parents for $1 per show when parents buy season tickets at the regular adult season ticket prices.
