Oscars producer Will Packer said Los Angeles police were ready to arrest Will Smith after on the Academy Awards stage.
鈥淭hey were saying, you know, this is battery, was a word they used in that moment,鈥 Packer said in a clip released by ABC 亚洲天堂 Thursday night of an 鈥淭hey said we will go get him. We are prepared. We鈥檙e prepared to get him right now. You can press charges, we can arrest him. They were laying out the options.鈥
But Packer said Rock was 鈥渧ery dismissive鈥 of the idea.
鈥淗e was like, 鈥楴o, no, no, I鈥檓 fine,鈥 Packer said. 鈥淎nd even to the point where I said, 鈥楻ock, let them finish.鈥 The LAPD officers finished laying out what his options were and they said, 鈥榃ould you like us to take any action?鈥 And he said no.鈥
The LAPD said in a statement after Sunday night鈥檚 ceremony that they were aware of the incident, and that Rock had declined to file a police report. The department declined comment Thursday on Packer鈥檚 interview, a longer version of which will air on Friday morning.

The academy said in a statement that 鈥淢r. Smith鈥檚 actions at the 94th Oscars were a deeply shocking, traumatic event to witness in-person and on television.鈥
Without giving specifics, the academy said Smith was asked to leave the ceremony at the Dolby Theatre, but refused to do so.
Smith strode from his front row seat on to the stage and slapped Rock after , Jada Pinkett Smith, when he was on stage to present the Oscar for best documentary.

The academy said Smith has the opportunity to defend himself in a written response before the board meets again on April 18.
