The Beacon Theatre presents Shakespeare鈥檚 glorious comedy of love and disguise on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
This performance is free of charge, brought to the Lakes District by The Beacon, with the support of The 亚洲天堂 Lake and District Community Foundation.
Rosalie Craig stars as Rosalind, in this National Theatre Live production from London. With her father the Duke banished and in exile, Rosalind and her cousin Celia leave their lives in the court behind them and journey into the Forest of Arden. There, released from convention, Rosalind experiences the liberating rush of transformation. Disguising herself as a boy, she embraces a different way of living and falls spectacularly in love.
Puccini鈥檚 鈥楾urandot'
The Beacon and the Lakes District Arts Council present Puccini鈥檚 final opera. The opera is an epic fairy tale set in China, live in HD on April 3 at 1 p.m. at the Beacon Theatre.
Nina Stemme takes on the title role of the proud princess of ancient China, whose riddles doom every suitor who seeks her hand. Marco Berti stars as Cal脿f, the brave prince who sings the famed aria 鈥淣essun dorma鈥, and who finally wins Turandot鈥檚 love. Anita Hartig appears in the role of Li霉, the faithful slave girl. Franco Zeffirelli鈥檚 golden production is conducted by Paolo Carignani. All tickets are $12, available at the door.
