Music from the opera became well known in the 1953 American musical ‘Kismet’, in particular the ‘Gliding Dance of the Maidens’ from the Polovtsian dances, which provided the melody for the popular song ‘Stranger in Paradise’. Star bass-baritone Ildar Abdrazakov takes on the monumental title role, with Mikhail Petrenko as Prince Galitsky, Oksana Dyka as Yaroslavna and Anita Rachvelishvili as Konchakovna. Gianandrea Noseda conducts the Met Orchestra.
