The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) has lifted the evacuation alert for the Laidman Lake wildfire.
RDBN announced on Aug. 21, the evacuation alert has been rescinded in its entirety for the wildfire reported 110 km
The alert was first issued on July 25, following an initial evacuation order.
The Laidman Lake fire, discovered July 19 is situated between the two lakes, approximately 100 kilometres south of Fraser Lake. When discovered, the blaze was 51 hectares in size and believed to have been started by dry lightning.
As of August 22, the fire is currently 'being held,' having burned through 5,467 hectares.
According to a BC Wildfire Service update from August 19, crews are working to secure a fire excursion to the northwest and reinforce control lines. The response includes ground crews, aviation support, and heavy equipment, with 25 personnel actively involved in managing the blaze.
