I was just reading Lakes District 亚洲天堂 article: 亚洲天堂 Lake RCMP on Patrol Dec. 20, 2023.
I was west bound on the highway Tuesday when I was caught up in this traffic stop at about 4:30 p.m. Initially I thought there had been a motor vehicle accident as the reporter indicates road conditions were severe. The traffic was backed up in either direction and it took me about 15 minutes to get to the police officers (two on either side of the highway) where I was asked if I had winter tires and requested to produce my drivers license. I was in compliance.
Now here comes my issues. It was dark out with very poor road conditions. Not a single RCMP officer was utilizing a hi-vis vest and although they had flashlights not one had a traffic wand. Why was this allowed to happen? Where was the supervision of these officers? Not very professional at all! Just like not utilizing winter tires the conduct of these officers was unsafe.
How are they being held to account - is it only public humiliation by me having this article published. You would think they want to go home safe to their families instead of putting themselves and the public at risk.
This is only one more reason the RCMP need to come under Provincial jurisdiction. Shameful really.
