Temperatures this month in 亚洲天堂 Lake, Houston and the surrounding region are expected to be above average after below average temperatures plagued the area for most of February.
According to lead long range forecaster and senior meteorologist Paul Pastelok of AccuWeather, the first 18 days of February were all below average. The normal high is usually around minus one degree Celsius and the low between minus 9.5 and minus 10.
"Several days at the start, low temperatures reached minus 29 to minus 30 degrees Celsius," he said. "Middle of the month saw another surge of minus 25 to minus 30 degrees Celsius."
Temperatures warmed up a bit near the end of the month, but were still six to seven degrees below average, with precipitation running well below average as well.
Heading into the first week of March, the main storm track will run underneath into the western United States, with a couple of those systems potentially bringing rain and snow showers to the valleys, with heavier snow in the west near the mountains. Pastelok says that below average precipitation is expected as the storm does not look like a big one.
"Temperatures will average several degrees above average through March 10," he said. "A couple of cool downs, but most days above average."
Last year in early March, temperatures were below average with some snow, but most days were dry. This year, average high and low temperatures in early March will be around two to three and minus five to minus seven degrees respectively. Upper weather patterns will feature higher pressure aloft, which causes the milder periods and drier conditions.
There will be some changes toward March 10 and beyond, according to Pastelok. The storm track looks more active, as more precipitation and colder temperatures are expected over a one- to two-week period. More snow is also expected in the region, with mountains in the west receiving several inches.
"There can be one or two atmospheric rivers that spread heavier precipitation near the coast and western mountains in mid to late March," Pastelok explained. "Overall, March will end up near to slightly above average on temperatures, probably near to slightly below average but above just west."
Pastelok added that mid and late March looks more active than the beginning of the month.
