The Village of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake is actively pursuing initiatives aimed to foster a diverse economy. In a recent update, chief administrative officer Sheryl Worthing highlighted various projects, positioning the community for growth in industry, commerce, tourism, and a vibrant downtown.
Village Heights development moves forward
Worthing said they are working hard to ensure development of the Village Heights project. ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake is currently working on the engineered design to get services to Village Heights, she added.
Boosting commercial space
Recent improvements to the Hwy 16 intersection at Richmond have paved the way for a new commercial subdivision, expanding opportunities for local developers and enhancing the community's commercial landscape, Worthing said. These enhancements aim to stimulate economic activity and attract new businesses.
‘Invest in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake’ initiative progressing
Work is in progress on the ‘Invest in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake’ package, designed to attract potential investors. The development of a dedicated website is underway, Worthing said. The website will providing a platform to showcase the community's opportunities and advantages for prospective businesses.
Richmond Loop Subdivision attracts interest
In a bid to create further commercial opportunities, the Village has issued a Request for Offers for three newly created commercial lots in the Richmond Loop Subdivision.
Gowan Road Property collaboration
The Village is finalizing a recreational concept plan for the Gowan Road Property, following the completion of a Development Assessment and Community Engagement Report. Once the plan is finalized, collaboration with First Nations and recreation developers will begin, Worthing said.
New Fire Hall opening soon
In addition to economic initiatives, Worthing said the new Fire Hall is set to open in the coming weeks, with details of a Grand Opening to be announced shortly. WIth regards to the old building, Worthing said an architect is currently working on a concept plan to expand the Village office. The concept plan expected to be completed within the next two months.
