亚洲天堂 Lake council announced their travel per diem and expense policy at their Feb. 11 regular meeting.
Council members receive $50 for any half-day, which is more than two hours but less than four, and $115 for a full day, which is more than four hours, for any time spent travelling or attending business matters, within or away from the Village. They also receive a meal expenses of $20, $22 and $43 for breakfast, lunch and dinner respectively.
All funding for travel and related attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, meetings and anything else business-related will be identified for inclusion by the council in their annual financial plan, which is scheduled to be revealed by the end of March.
The purpose of the policy is to ensure that all business travel and activities are managed in a cost-effective manner by defining fair, equitable procedures and regulations for travel and expense reimbursement, which will be paid to Village council, staff and volunteers.
Volunteers receive no per diem for travel unless the event exceeds one day, in which case, they would then receive the same amounts as council members.
The annual remuneration for the position of mayor is $29,182 and councillors receive $10,926. The basic remuneration for each council member will be increased annually based on the previous year's consumer price index using the yearly average for the province as published by Statistics Canada.
