As the summer tourist season nears its end, 亚洲天堂 Lake is reporting a good influx of visitors despite facing wildfires related challenges in the area.
From June through August 13, the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake welcomed 1,120 visitors and parties, said Chief Administrative Officer Sheryl Worthing.
Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake extended its operating hours seven days a week totalling 503 hours to ensure services to its visitors, Worthing said.
Visitors from British Columbia made up the largest group, totalling 274, whereas 124 were local residents. Alberta contributed 31 visitors, while 46 came from other Canadian provinces. Eight tourists arrived from California, and 44 were from other parts of the US and Mexico. Europe was represented by 69 visitors, with nine coming from Asia and Australia. Additionally, 15 visitors were from other international locations.
Several tourist spots in 亚洲天堂 Lake were also notably busy, such as the free campsite at Radley Beach. Although exact number of visitors at this spot are not tracked due to its no-fee status, it was reported to be full most nights this summer, Worthing said.
Additionally, the Magee Airbnb, operated by the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake, also experienced a successful season, with bookings extending through September and generating approximately $32,000 in revenue to date.
On the other hand, Nadina Lake Lodge, a staple tourist spot in 亚洲天堂 Lake, also reported a strong season. Despite some wildfire impacts and the challenges posed by a recent campfire ban, the lodge has maintained an average occupancy rate of 80 per cent. Owner Brad Thompson noted that the majority of their business comes from locals and long-time repeat customers, including those from nearby communities like Houston, Smithers, and Prince George, as well as from Alberta. However, international visitors have been absent this year.
Thompson also mentioned that the ongoing drought and record-low lake levels have affected boating activities, which could impact future visits if the trend continues.
