A 亚洲天堂 Lake woman, arrested on July 13 in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Decker Lake residence, has been charged with manslaughter, according to the BC Prosecution Service (BCPS).
The incident, which drew a response from 亚洲天堂 Lake RCMP, involved a man found in critical condition at the scene last month. Despite efforts to save him, he died on-site. The woman present at the residence was taken into custody.
BCPS confirmed in a statement to Lakes District 亚洲天堂 on Aug. 7 that the woman was initially charged on July 14 with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, as outlined in section 88(1) of the Criminal Code. On July 17, following a new charge, she was formally charged with manslaughter under section 236(b).
The woman, arrested without a warrant on July 13, has not yet had a bail hearing. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 15 at 9:30 a.m. in virtual courtroom VR2.
Damienne Darby, Communications Counsel for BCPS, noted that for serious cases like this, it typically takes several weeks or even months for counsel to review the case, and for the accused to make decisions regarding trial or preliminary inquiry dates.
