The construction of the new fire hall is nearing completion, with an anticipated move-in date by the end of September, Fire Chief Robert Krause said.
in an Aug. 13 update, Krause said the building still requires some finishing touches, including parking lot construction, finishing works and paving scheduled for mid-September.
The new hall will be substantially bigger, capable of housing all of our equipment.
"The existing hall is over 50 years old and is no longer big enough," Krause said, adding, it also has a number of deficiencies from a health and safety aspect.
Construction of the new building began last September and the budget for the project is $3.4 million. Most of this money, ($3.1 million) came from a federal/provincial Infrastructure grant, with the remaining being funded from Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake reserves.
The new hall will have one additional bay for trucks, a large storage area for extra equipment, adequate parking for members when they respond, and proper decontamination area to clean equipment after a fire.
Key features of the new fire hall include an additional bay for trucks, a large storage area for equipment, improved parking for responding members, and a dedicated decontamination area for cleaning equipment post-fire.
As for the old fire station, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake is exploring options for its future, said Krause. An architect will soon visit the site to develop design ideas, with the aim of re-purposing the building to meet future municipal needs.
