Applications for the 亚洲天堂 Lake Business Facade Improvement Program are now open and all businesses within the revitalization area are eligible for this grant.

The program provides a reimbursement grant to businesses in downtown which is funded by Northern Development Initiative Trust.

The grant will match dollar-for-dollar 50 per cent of eligible costs, up to a maximum of $5,000 per business each year. To be eligible, each project must cost a minimum of $2,500.

The facade program can be accessed each year for new or incremental improvements. The total fund of $15,000 is provided by the Northern Development Initiative Trust and is administered by the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake.

Sheryl Worthing, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake chief administrative officer, said due to high demand this year, the funding was $15,000. She added that all application needs to be applied through the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake.

To apply for the business facade improvement program, applicants must submit their application along with the designs and an approval letter from the owner, if applicable. Staff will carefully review the applications and proposed improvements to ensure that they meet the downtown design and business facade improvement program guidelines.

After reviewing the application, the chief administrative officer will accept or reject it based on a point system evaluation of the project. The applicants would be informed of the decision by email or mail.

After the application is approved, the applicant will receive a Letter of Understanding, which needs to be signed by both the tenant/owner and the village representative before the project begins. If the applicant wants to change the approved project, please inform the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake.

The applicant must provide copies of all invoices or receipts to receive reimbursement. An electronic summary of all costs itemized on the program reporting form can be provided. For invoice payment, copies of cleared cheques, bank statements, or credit cards must be confirmed.

Since its introduction in 2013, the program has granted $3.2 million in funding for 242 facade improvement projects to local businesses through local governments.

The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake implemented the business facade program in 2021 to enhance the overall appearance of local businesses. Wildroots Flowers and Gifts underwent a complete storefront update, the Beacon Theatre added outdoor siding to two sides of the building, and All-West Glass upgraded its facade with a fresh coat of paint through this program.

The deadline for application is April 30.
