On Feb. 20, the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake discussed the All Funeral Cemetery Workstation (AFCW) service.
All Funeral Cemetery Workstation is an online cemetery database that provides comprehensive cemetery record keeping.
Sheryl Worthing, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake chief administrative officer, said this service would benefit Lake Babine Nation to keep their cemetery records. She said this would let people know where cemeteries are and who were buried.
Mayor Henry Wiebe asked how the information was going to be updated.
Worthing said that the records are already in the database but can鈥檛 be updated on the maps. 鈥淚t鈥檚 just not supported anymore,鈥 she said. She added that if the village provides its archive to the All Funeral Cemetery Workstation service and photos, they can update it.
Charlie Rensby, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake councillor, asked whether there will be opportunities for the village to recoup some of the costs if any local organization wants to use this service.
Worthing answered that it鈥檚 a discussion that needs to be done with AFCW, and for now, the village needs to pay for their own agreement.
Kristy Bjarnason, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake councillor, was concerned about AFCW鈥檚 service as she could not get enough information. She asked for a demonstration to be presented by AFCW about their service and also inquired whether locals need to pay for their service every time they use it.
Worthing said that the demonstration could be arranged, and residents wouldn鈥檛 have to pay any service to AFCW to view the records. Once the cemetery online service is installed, residents will go through the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake website to view that information.
Kevin White, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake councillor, asked where all these records will be stored and whether cemeteries will also have this service.
Worthing said all the information would be stored in a Canadian Cloud server, and cemeteries would not have this service. She said anyone who wants to access this service must visit the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake.
The All Funeral Cemetery Workstation service will cost $13,200 for the first 1650 records. A fee of $8 per additional record will be charged after the initial count. Software and maintenance costs will be $150 per month. The initial integration and digitization fee will be funded with the prior year鈥檚 surplus, and the software and maintenance fee will be funded through the annual cemetery operating budget.
After the discussion, Mayor Wiebe said it would be best to see the demonstration in the next meeting before making the decision. Council agreed.
