The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake discussed the resurrection of the Community Forest Stakeholder Group on March 19.
Sheryl Worthing, Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake chief administrative officer, said this conversation came at the last meeting, when councillor Charlie Rensby, informed council that the stakeholder group would be resurrected. She had concerns and wondered if Babine Forest Products would take part in it.
Councillor Rensby informed council that Babine Forest Products organized everything last time. 鈥淚 think that this coloured, maybe some of what we were doing, which happened to be directly paid for by the industry. So, I want to offer Babine Forest Products that maybe the village would cover it this time,鈥 he said.
He suggested that this time, council should take part by involving a councillor or anyone else from the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake to coordinate it.
He said it would help limit costs and keep the business independent, industry-wise.
Mayor Henry Wiebe asked how many members would attend the stakeholder group.
Rensby said that the meetings were usually attended by 10 to 12 people, but they could also include 20 people from forestry and First Nations representatives.
Worthing asked whether there鈥檚 some mandate for the stakeholder group or if staff needs to sit together and discuss things beforehand.
Rensby said that this stakeholder group鈥檚 goals must be discussed beforehand.
The Lakes TSA Coalition, formerly known as the Lakes TSA Stakeholder Group or the Community Forest Stakeholder Group, was formed in 2018 to address the annual allowable cut determination for the Lakes TSA.
After the conversation, Worthing said that this needs more discussions on future meetings and council agreed.
