Once again, ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake artisans and producers are coming together to showcase their work and sell their goods at local farmers markets. The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Farmers Market will take place on June 7 from 10:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. at 258 Hwy. 16 in the chamber parking lot.

As part of the Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program, coupons can be spent at the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Farmers Market along with all BC Farmers Markets that participate in the coupon program. They can be used to purchase vegetables, fruits, nuts, eggs, dairy, herbs, vegetables and fruit plants, honey and meat. The ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Farmers Market collaborates with the Link and the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Chamber to provide the coupons to lower income families, pregnant women and seniors. This program is supported by the Province of B.C. Being part of the program also places the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Farmers Market on the BC Farmers Market Trail Map. If you are interested in showcasing and selling your goods through the farmers market, apply at chamber office.

It will only cost $18 a day for normal tables or $14 a day if you are a member and qualify for the chamber membership rate. As of last week, there were 15 spots left available so feel free to swing by and pick up your own vendor guidebook from the chamber and take a look to see if this opportunity is right for you.

Out on Southbank there will also be the seasonal Southside Farmers Market, organized by April Flemming. It kicks off Fridays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. starting June 7. You can become a vendor by contacting April Flemming at sedarental@gmail.com, or by phone at 250 694 3594.

For as little as $5 per day you can set up shop and help grow the community which currently sees an average of 4-8 vendors on site per day. The Southside Farmers Market is located at 1246 Uncha Lake Road at the Southside Economic Development Association Center. To get there, head south on Hwy. 35 and cross the Francois Lake ferry. Take your first left off the ferry, and they are just before the community dry dock.

Keep an eye out for the signs and you won’t miss it. With consistent participation and support from the local community, the Southside Farmers Market hopes to themselves become a member of the BC Farmers Market association in the future. If you’re feeling up for an afternoon cruise or happen to be a resident of the Southside community, it is a beautiful drive out there, and you will get to meet some of the craftiest individuals in our community.
