Lakes District Museum Now Accepting Exhibition Proposals for the 2024 Season
The Lakes District Museum and Gallery is now accepting exhibition proposals for the 2024 season from local visual artists. The museum is planning five one-month shows in 2024 — one of which will be themed — and the museum hopes to fill all the slots from May to September.
This year, the museum is hoping to offer exhibitors a stipend to show their work in its gallery. Deadline for applications for the 2024 season is March 31.

Free live theatre performance at The Beacon Theatre on BC Family Day
The Lakes District Arts Council (LDAC) offers a free live theatre show, Frog Belly Rat Bone, for children and families on BC Family Day, Monday Feb. 19 at The Beacon Theatre in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake. The theatre opens at 12:30 p.m., and the show starts at 1 p.m. sharp.
Vancouver-based Axis Theatre Company presents a live show about a very special boy whose wish is to find a treasure. Based on a children’s storybook adapted for the stage, this show is meant for kids pre-k to grade five. Combining the magic of beautifully handcrafted puppets with an original pop/rock musical score, this show tells the story of a young boy’s quest for treasure, and the unlikely hero he creates to protect it.
