Firefighters respond to structure fire in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake

ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Fire Department responded to a structure fire that had ignited on the outside wall of a home on Wednesday (Oct. 30) morning.

Fire chief Rob Krause said the firefighters arrived at 10:24 a.m., when the fire was beginning to extend into the attic, and quickly applied water.

The initial knockdown of the blaze was successfully completed within 15 minutes, preventing further damage. No injuries were reported and Krause said the homeowners were not at home at the time.

The fire was reported by a neighbour who spotted the smoke and called them, Krause said.

Estimated cost of damages is approximately $20,000. The fire was determined to be caused by an overloaded electrical circuit, which overheated and ignited adjacent flammable materials.
