Former First Nation band manager's hearing adjourned

Nathan Michaluk will appear in court again next month

Former Skin Tyee Nation band manager Nathan Michaluk was back in court for his hearing on Jan. 22.

Michaluk faces charges of careless use or storage of a firearm and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The BC Prosecution Service confirmed the charges last fall under sections 86(1) and 88(1) of the Criminal Code and legal proceedings began with his first appearance in court on Nov. 1, 2024.

Michaluk again appeared in court on Nov. 21, Dec. 9 and Dec 12 before his most recent appearance. He was to elect the mode of trial but his defence initiated an adjournment which was granted.

Michaluk is scheduled to appear in court again on Feb. 18 to elect the mode of trial.
