Four Rivers Co-operative is handing out over $165,000 as part of its annual community support fund.
Recipients of the 2023 funding stream are local businesses and organizations located along the northern B.C. belt where Four Rivers has its operations.
Every year the funding stream sees a high volume of applications out of which a committee evaluates and awards the funds to projects that provide an essential service that improves the quality of life within communities.
鈥淲e are so grateful to be able to offer this program to the communities we serve and to support the amazing work that these organizations are doing,鈥 said Four Rivers鈥 spokesperson, Maegan Woods.
鈥淲e are always inspired by the passion and dedication of these local groups and their efforts to make a positive difference in our local communities,鈥 she added.
In Vanderhoof, Nechako Senior Citizen Society and the Air Cadet League of Canada 899 Vanderhoof Sponsoring Committee will get $8,000 and $2,200 respectively.
Fraser Lake Quilter Club and Fraser Lake and Area Men鈥檚 Shed are set to receive $3,000 and $5,000.
Prince George Horse Society is the recipient of the largest sum this year with $20,545.
The Four Rivers Co-op community support fund was established in 2016 to provide financial assistance to local non-profit groups, charities, and community organizations that share our values of co-operation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Since then, the fund has supported more than 100 projects with over $850,000 donated. In 2023 the programs funds increased from $100,000 to $150,000.
As part of the 2023 funding stream, Four Rivers handed out a total of $166,873 to 25 organizations in northern B.C.

The Fraser Lake Quilter Club received $3,000.00
Scouts Canada - Camp Hughs was awarded $5,596.00
Quilters from the Heart received $4,300.00
The Mills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was granted $7,500.00
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Quesnel received $5,000.00
The Fraser Lake and Area Men鈥檚 Shed received $5,000.00 .
The Canadian Mental Health Association of Northern BC was awarded $5,000.00
The Omineca Ski Club received $8,000.00
The Grassy Plains Community Hall Association received $10,000.00
The Cariboo Elders Building & Recreational Society was granted $5,000.00
The Garage Community Space Society received $10,000.00
The Houston Artisan Co-operative was awarded $6,300.00
The Topley 4-H Club received $5,500.00
The 3rd PG West Scouts Canada was granted $2,950.00
Prince George & District Senior Citizen received $1,000.00
The Rotary Club of Terrace Skeena Valley was awarded $5,000.00
The Prince George Horse Society received the highest amount of $20,545.00
The Kitimat Dynamics Gymnastics Club was granted $12,119.00
The Air Cadet League of Canada 899 Vanderhoof Sponsoring Committee received $2,200.00
The 2024 Community Support Fund application period will re-open on September 15, 2024.
