Puccini’s melodrama, Tosca, features a volatile diva, a sadistic police chief, and an idealistic artist. It has offended and thrilled audiences for more than a century. Puccini’s opera, which debuted in Rome in 1900, stars extraordinary soprano Lise Davidsen as the volatile diva, Floria Tosca, in David McVicar’s memorable production. Also featured in the cast are tenor Freddie De Tommaso in his Met debut as Tosca’s revolutionary lover, Cavaradossi, and powerhouse baritone Quinn Kelsey as the sadistic chief of police Scarpia. Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the electrifying score, which features some of Puccini’s most memorable melodies. This live cinema transmission is part of the Met’s award-winning Live in HD series, bringing opera to movie theatres across the globe.
Tickets for the Met operas this season will be $15 each, and are available starting at 12:30 pm at The Beacon Theatre box office the day of the performance. Look for LDAC ads this week and next week in the Lakes District ÑÇÖÞÌìÌÃ.
