On Nov. 9 the ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Volunteer Fire Department held an open house for their new fire hall. The community was invited to the ribbon cutting and food and beverages. Little bit of history… pushing the fire truck into the hall is an old tradition dating back to the days when fire engines were horse draw. Horses didn’t go backwards well, so people had to push the apparatus into the hall by hand. Now, it’s tradition to push a new truck into an old hall, or a old truck into a new hall. They didn’t actually push it; Kris Garneau (driver) slowly backed up as the group pushed it. (Michael Riis-Christianson photos/Lakes District ÑÇÖÞÌìÌÃ)
