Houston RCMP officers took a person in Granisle into custody the afternoon of Feb. 25 after learning that a man had fire a rifle in the direction of another person earlier that morning.

Officers were in the village at a suspicious house fire when they heard a gunshot.

鈥淲hile police immediately attempted to determine where the shot came from, they were advised of the calls made to 9-1-1,鈥� said RCMP media officer Corporal Madonna Saunderson in a release today.

After learning that a suspect entered his home on Hagan St., police blocked off the area knowing that the man was armed and had barricaded himself inside.

鈥淎t 3:25 p.m. the suspect exited his residence and was taken into custody without further incident,鈥� said Saunderson.

鈥淧olice located several firearms in the home including the one believed to have been recently fired.鈥�

Charges have not yet been laid but Saunderson said that suspect could faced multiple weapons offences.
