The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake and Lake Babine Nation have launched a new sidewalk extension project that will connect the Lake Babine Nation (LBN) band office to the Multi Purpose Pathway on Sus. Ave. The extension will link to the lighted multi-path sidewalk installed last year, which provides safer access from Lake Babine Nation to William Konkin Elementary.
Sheryl Worthing, Chief Administrative Officer of the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake, said, that while this is primarily a Lake Babine Nation project, the Village is assisting with its execution. The project, which commenced on Aug. 12, is anticipated to be completed by late September or early October.
The total cost of the project is $445,000, with 75 per cent funded by the BC Active Transportation Grant and the remaining 25 per cent provided by Lake Babine Nation. Of the grant amount, $356,000 represents 80 per cent of the project's total funding.
Morben Construction Ltd is handling the construction. During the week of Aug. 26, concrete will be poured at the upper parking lot entrance and ball field entrance. This will require a five-day curing period before the concrete can support traffic. During this time, visitors to the Woyenna Administration Building should seek alternate parking arrangements.
