The Prince George Airport Authority announced a new hotel development at Prince George Airport (YXS), with Lake Babine Nation joining as a key partner.

The Prestige YXS project is led by Prince-George based Growth Hospitality Group, in collaboration with Kelowna-based Prestige Hotels and Resorts and Lake Babine Nation, said the airport authority on July 22. 

Construction of Prestige YXS is scheduled to start next year in April, with the hotel expected to open in winter 2027. 

Lake Babine Nation had announced its partnership with the Prestige group on May 24, when representatives from the First Nation and the hotel group celebrated the investment in Prince George . 

"This partnership is a great opportunity for Lake Babine First Nation to be involved in a project that will bring economic benefits to our community," said CEO of Lake Babine Nation Trevor Morrison, adding, "We are proud to be a part of this development and look forward to its positive impact.鈥�

The hotel will feature 120 guest rooms, a spa, gym, meeting spaces, and a guest lounge, along with over 12,000 square feet of main floor lease space for additional amenities and services. 

The addition of Prestige YXS to Prince George Airport will significantly enhance the travel experience for passengers, said President and CEO of Prince George Airport Authority Gordon Duke.

"This hotel development aligns with our vision of providing exceptional services and amenities, making our airport a key hub for travellers,鈥� Duke said.

Growth Hospitality has developed several properties in the region, including the Prestige Treasure Cove Resort and Prestige Prince George Lodge.

Prestige YXS will be the 20th hotel in Prestige Hotels and Resorts' portfolio. The family-owned company has18 Prestige-branded properties and one Best Western, spanning 14 communities across B.C.
