Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) ski and snowboard teams competed at the B.C. School Sports Provincial Championships at Sun Peaks Resort. Eighteen students participated in this tournament.
The skiers raced a two-run giant slalom course on Feb. 26. Snowboarders raced a two-run giant slalom course on Feb. 27.
The LDSS girls snowboarding placed first in the province while the boys were second. The school was ranked second in the combined boys鈥 and girls鈥 snowboarding.
Individually, Laurie Wilson was first in the two-run giant slalom course; Lola Wilson placed fourth, and Jadyn Varga achieved ninth place in the all-terrain course.
Pat and Patti Dube were the LDSS instructors for both teams. Patti said that all skiers and boarders raced in one fun all-terrain course which was an additional part of the tournament.
鈥淎nother amazing result for our little school,鈥 Patti said.
Patti added that the school鈥檚 male skiers were middle of the pack out of 122 racers.
