The Met Opera: Live in HD broadcast of 鈥楪rounded' at The Beacon Theatre
The first Met Opera: Live in HD broadcast of the 24/25 season, co-presented by the Lakes District Arts Council and The Beacon Theatre, is on Sunday, November 10th at 1:00 pm. A new opera Grounded will be broadcast, starring Canadian mezzo-soprano Emily D鈥橝ngelo, one of opera鈥檚 most compelling young stars. D鈥橝ngelo portrays Jess, a hot-shot fighter pilot whose unplanned pregnancy takes her out of the cockpit and lands her in Las Vegas, operating a drone halfway around the world. As she struggles to adjust to this new way of doing battle, she fights to maintain her sanity as she is called to rain down death by remote control. Met Music Director Yannick N茅zet-S茅guin oversees the Met premiere of composer Jeanine Tesori鈥檚 score. The cast features tenor Ben Bliss as the Wyoming rancher who becomes Jess鈥檚 husband. Michael Mayer鈥檚 high-tech staging, using a vast array of LED screens, presents a variety of perspectives on the action including the drone鈥檚 predatory view from high above. Content Advisory: Grounded contains adult language and war sequences.
Tickets for the Met operas this season will be $15.00 each, and are available starting at 12:30 pm at The Beacon Theatrebox office the day of the performance. Look for LDAC ads this week and next week in the Lakes District 亚洲天堂.
