Multiple police officers armed with semi-automatic rifles descended upon a house just off of Lakelse Ave. in Terrace this morning, ordering its occupants to come out.
At least six people exited the home, hands in the air before being ordered to slowly walk backward to waiting officers. They were then handcuffed and placed in police vehicles.
A police officer could be heard ordering the occupants of 4509 Lazelle Ave. to leave the house.
The house, a low-slung, brown-painted pan abode-type structure, is one of four on the 4500 Block of Lazelle Ave., which resembles more of an alley than a city street, behind the St. Matthew’s Anglican church.
A brief statement from Terrace RCMP indicated officers were acting with the aid of a search warrant.
The four homes have drawn more than their fair share of police attention in recent years and one or more of the residences have been the subject of search warrant-assisted entries.
The Clinton Ave. entrance to the alley also drew the attention of investigators in late November when a young person was fatally stabbed in the vicinity.
