The Board of Directors for the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako adopted several new zoning bylaws during their meeting on Thursday, May 23. Among them was a bylaw that would allow for the construction of a new abattoir to process chickens.
Director Clint Lambert said it could be in the region鈥檚 interest to speed this process up to meet existing demand.
NEW TRUCK
The board approved the purchase of a Ford F550 flat-deck pickup truck to replace a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 to be retired from the maintenance fleet. Alex Eriksen, director of environmental services recommended the purchase to the board.
FIRE BOUNDARY CHANGE
The RBDN adopted a bylaw that extends fire prevention and suppression services to a portion of Electoral Area 鈥淎鈥 known as the 鈥淪mithers Rural Fire Protection Service Area.鈥
MUSEUM SERVICE AGREEMENT
The Regional District approved an agreement for the Lakes District Museum Society to operate and manage the Lakes District Museum. This is the first local service area contract for organizations that receive yearly funding based on the recommendation of the Municipal Insurance Association.
HOCKEY RENOVATION
The Board approved a $5,000 Grant to help the Fort St. James Minor Hockey Association with renovations at the Fort Forum Arena Concession.
