School District 91鈥檚 Board of Education held its annual elections and committee appointments on November 18.
Trustee Dave Christie was re-elected by acclamation as Board Chair for his fourth term. Christie, a trustee in Fraser Lake since 2018, expressed his gratitude toward fellow trustees.
鈥淚t is a privilege to serve in this capacity for the students, staff, and families. I look forward to working with Minister Beare as we continue to advocate for all students across our region,鈥 he said in a statement.
He also noted that this is an 鈥渆xciting year鈥 for SD 91 with the hiring of a new superintendent, strengthening stakeholder partnerships, and the beginning of the process for a new strategic plan.
Nyree Hazelton was also re-elected by acclamation as Vice-Chair of the Board. Hazelton has been a trustee since 2018.
鈥淎s a returning Vice-Chair, I look forward to continuing in this role and collaborating with all trustees to honour inclusion, diversity and improve learning outcomes for students across the District,鈥 she said.
Following the elections, trustees volunteered and were appointed to represent various committees for the 2024-2025 term. The committee appointments are as follows:
British Columbia Public School Employers Association (BCPSEA): Trustee Christie (Alternate: Trustee Davis)
British Columbia School Trustees Association (BCSTA) Provincial Council: Trustee Hazelton (Alternate: Trustee Davis)
BCSTA - Northern Interior Branch (NIB): Trustee Davis
SD91 Indigenous Education Council: Trustee Gratz (Alternate: Trustee Davis)
District Parent Advisory Committee (DPAC): Trustee Pooley
District Finance & Budget Committee: Trustees Christie, Gratz, Hazelton, Pooley, and Walker
District Policy Committee: Trustees Albertson, Davis, Gratz, Pooley, and Walker
