The Smithers RCMP have located and arrested a suspect they have been seeking since at least October 2024.
Jonathan Wilson is charged with assault by choking, forcible confinement, obstructing a peace officer, failing to comply with an undertaking and failing to comply with a probation order.
"The nature of these charges reflects the seriousness of the situation," said Smithers detachment commander Staff Sgt. Mark Smaill.
"Our team is committed to enhancing public safety and addressing crime through proactive policing and collaboration."
On October 30, 2024 police requested the public鈥檚 assistance locating Wilson and in a press release yesterday, thanked the public for assisting in the case.
The arrest came after police executed a search warrant at a residence in Fort Babine on March 13. He is currently in custody awaiting a future undisclosed court date.
I see firsthand how hard our members work every day, and I am proud of their dedication and persistence in locating this individual,
added Sgt. Ryan Law.
