Still Standing: Prince Rupert welcomes popular CBC program

Free stand-up comedy show scheduled for Civic Centre Sunday (April 14) evening

During episodes of CBC鈥檚 hit program Still Standing, comedian-host Jonny Harris good-heartedly pokes fun at the towns and people he encounters in excerpts from a live stand-up show he does to wrap up a week of filming.

On Sunday evening (April 14), Prince Rupertites will get a chance to hear what Harris thinks of this North Coast city.

Still Standing, which chronicles survival stories of Canada鈥檚 small towns that have encountered hard times has been in Prince Rupert all week.

The wrap-up stand-up comedy show is a free event at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The show鈥檚 producers have kept things under pretty tight wraps as to where and what they鈥檝e been filming, but Rupertites will only have to wait until the 2024-2025 season to see the episode on TV.

鈥淭he Prince Rupert episode of Still Standing will air on CBC TV (and Gem) in the fall or early winter of 2025,鈥 said Dave Kerr, senior producer of the show. 鈥淗ard to say more precisely at this point, so stay tuned to our social media accounts and you鈥檒l see exactly when this episode will air.鈥

Kerr said they have thoroughly enjoyed their time in the city.

鈥淧rince Rupert has to be seen to be believed,鈥 he said. 鈥淭he hotel we鈥檙e staying at puts binoculars in every room so you can do whale watching right out your window! Between the mountains, the ocean, and the Great Bear Rainforest, there鈥檚 a lot of natural beauty to this place that you just don鈥檛 see in other places.

鈥淭he hospitality of the people here is also something everyone in the crew has mentioned, everywhere we go, people have really gone out of their way to help us out. It鈥檚 been an amazing week so far!鈥
