Truth and reconciliation

Despite the cold rainy weather ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Native Development organized a day for Truth and Reconciliation at Spirit Square on Sept. 30. First Nation Chiefs Wesley Sam, Wilf Adam and Corrina Leween all took part in the event. On hand was also Village of ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake councillor Darrell Hill representing the mayor as he was not able to attend. General manager Chantal Tom and her crew served hot chili and soup with buns to the small crowd in attendance, along with offering free t-shirts to everyone. Patty Tom was master of ceremonies and talked about his experiences growing up as a First Nation in ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake and how he was punished for speaking his own language, and others took time to drum.
