The Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake has approved a plan to develop a concept plan for the 1675 Gowan Road property, allocating $18,150 from the Comfor Reserve for this purpose.

This decision, made during the council meeting on July 22, involves contracting TRUE Engineering to create the plan, which will include conceptual drawings and a flyover video.

The concept plan will be informed by the recent Development Assessment and Community Engagement Report presented by Greentech Asia.

Proposed features for the Gowan Road property include a 9-hole golf course, RV and cabin accommodations, a toboggan hill, a ski hill, and a multipurpose clubhouse, among other recreational amenities. 

This development will enhance recruitment and retention, boost tourism, and provide a range of outdoor activities for local residents, said Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake's Chief Administrative Officer Sheryl Worthing in her report to the council. 

"It will enable the Village to attract visitors while fulfilling the community's recreational needs."

Currently, a portion of the Gowan property is being used as the successful Magee House Airbnb. The venture, owned and operated by the Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake, has been fully booked since its opening in February this year and has generated approximately $30,000 in revenue to date, Worthing said.

The house used to be the residence of former 亚洲天堂 Lake Mayor Bernice Magee and her physician husband George. Village of 亚洲天堂 Lake purchased 1675 Gowan Road for $900,000 in 2023.

Magee house stands at the edge of 亚洲天堂 Lake with views of Loch Lomond. This 150-acre property features the Magee Connector Trail, connecting to the Rod Reid Trail and Boer Mountain Bike Park, offering diverse year-round outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, and snowshoeing. The house includes four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a hot tub, and can accommodate up to 10 guests.
