Wesley Sam re-elected as chief of Ts’il Kaz Koh (ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Band)

Wesley Sam will return as Ts’il Kaz Koh Chief.

Wesley Sam has been re-elected as Chief of the Ts’il Kaz Koh (ÑÇÖÞÌìÌà Lake Band) following the results of the November 7, 2024 general election.

Sam secured 68 votes, defeating two other candidates: Clayton Charlie, who received 24 votes, and Amber George, who garnered 12 votes.

It is Sam’s third time as Ts’il Kaz Koh chief. In the past he has also served as an elected councillor.

In the race for councillors, Sarah Green was elected with 42 votes, while Ellen Lorentz (Chickey) will return for another term after securing 39 votes. Seven candidates vied for the two councillor positions.

The remaining vote totals were as follows: Greg Favelle – 23 votes, Blake Edward Nobles – 15 votes, Cecelia Sam – 17 votes, Sara Tibbett – 26 votes, and Kiana Wiebe – 36 votes.

The election saw a total of 104 votes cast, representing a 57 per cent voter turnout, with 62 in-person ballots and 42 mail-in ballots.
