A familiar face is back at the helm of the Lake Babine Nation following its June 19 elections.
Wilf Adam gathered the most votes of the six people running for the chief's position, including Murphy Abraham who was trying to be re-elected.
Adam has previous experience as an elected chief of the Lake Babine Nation and now will use that experience for the next three years.
Adam received 248 votes to Abraham's 185 for the top job.
Derek MacDonald received 147 votes, Crystal Harwood 115, Louise Lacerte received 94 votes and Frank Alec received 42.
Nine councillors were elected from the four communities who make up the nation.
Jason Charlie and Melvin Joseph were tied at 240 votes for two of the four Woyenne council seats with Debbie West collecting 215 votes and Fabian Michell 166 votes.
Bessie West and Lyle Michell are the two councillors from Fort Babine/Wit'at with West receiving 30 votes and Michelle 24.
Mildred George with 58 votes and Delores Alec with 39 votes will represent Tachet.
Erin Alec with 62 votes is the lone council member from Old Fort/Nedo'ats.
In all there were 31 candidates among the four communities for the nine council seats.
Electoral officer Graeme Drew reported that 838 people either received a paper ballot or voted electronically. Of that number, 836 ballots were cast for chief and 838 for councillor.
There were 11 ballots not counted because they were either blank, completed incorrectly or contained a signature or comments that could identify the voter.
Drew said scrutineers examined every rejected ballot and there was no recorded opposition to why they were rejected.
