BL Lions come to 亚洲天堂 Lake

Two members of the BC Lions visited 亚洲天堂 Lake recently and spoke to students and staff at Lakes District Secondary School. They spoke about The Be More Than A Bystander program. The program is designed specifically for youth in Grades 8 to 12, emphasizing the role everyone can play in promoting healthy relationships and creating more respectful, peaceful schools and communities.

LDSS girls鈥 snowboarders best in B.C.

Students from Lakes District Secondary School (LDSS) ripped up the slopes at Sun Peaks in early March, earning top spots in the provincial competitions. The girls鈥 snowboarding team ranked first in the province, while the boys鈥 team came in fourth. LDSS also won the girls鈥 and boys鈥 combined snowboarding banner. In individual provincial rankings for girls鈥 snowboarding, Nisa Hofer came in second overall, followed by Avril Thom-Lucy at third and Teslin Pinter at sixth.

More than 50 hit the trails for Omineca Ski Club marathon and relay

More than 50 skiers, snowshoers and fat bikers turned out this year for the Omineca Ski Club鈥檚 annual Loppet and Family Marathon on Sunday, Mar. 4. This year also featured the Freezer Burnt Relay race, with teams of all ages. 鈥淭he addition of the fat bikes and snowshoes to the event brought out some faces the club had never seen before,鈥 said Rachelle van Zanten, who organized the event with Chris Paulson.
